League of Legends (LoL)

Developed and released by Valve Corporation in 2000, Counter Strike is a First Person Shooter (FPS) game that has taken the world by storm. In this game, teams are assigned as terrorists or counter-terrorists with the aim of taking control of an area known as a map. There are different scenarios and objectives within each map with most scenarios having the counter-terrorists rescue hostages while the terrorists aim to plant a bomb in a specific area.

PUBG

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is one of the newest games in eSports. It was developed and released by PUBG Corporation in 2017 and is regarded as one of the best Battle Royal games out there. In PUBG, a player can fight alone or in a team of up to 4 players. Players dive out of a plane and land of 1 of 3 maps. The aim is to be the last man standing, destroying opponents as the map slowly decreases in size. If played in single-player mode, the player is joined by 99 others with the last man standing winning the game.

Fortnite

Fortnite is another newcomer to eSports having released in 2017 by Epic Games. Much like PUBG, this is a Battle Royal where the aim is to be the last man standing. In Fortnite players are thrust in an apocalyptic world where most the population has disappeared. The aim is to complete a set of tasks which include eliminating zombies (husks), collecting resources, and rebuilding parts of the Fortnite civilization. The player who outlasts all the others is declared the winner. This game can be played in single, or multiplayer mode.
